BOE may revise medication policy

A possible revision of the school district’s policy for supervision of medications is on the agenda for the Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education meeting. The board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at the District Education Center, 201 S. Patton Road.
Last December, the board heard a suggested policy revision that would allow more flexibility for parents to send their children to school with certain prescription medications, such as asthma inhalers, and over-the-counter medications, such as cough drops. No action was taken because the district wanted more input from school nurses. Now, a suggested policy is back on the agenda.
Coaches Tim Brooks and Randy Beck will give an update on the progress of the Summer Weights program.
Other action items on the agenda include approving state and federal programs allocations for the new school year, and personnel.
