Boy injured in go-cart accident

A 7-year-old boy from Kinsley was injured Sunday afternoon while driving a go-cart at Val Energy Inc., 250 SE 10 Ave., Great Bend.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports the motorized go-cart, which was not equipped with a seat belt, struck a parked vehicle in the oilfield storage lot at 3:55 p.m. and the boy sustained a severe cut to his forehead. He was transported by private vehicle and met by an ambulance on the way.

He was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital and was last seen awake and alert. He was evaluated for additional head and neck injuries.

Agencies assisting at the scene were the Great Bend Police Department, Great Bend Fire Department Ambulance and Kansas Highway Patrol.
