The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will vote on publishing next year’s budget when it meets at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, in room F-30, on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building. The recommended budget would require an estimated property tax rate of 33.124 mills this year; that is exactly the same as the actual tax rate in 2014.
While 33.124 mills brought in $8,959,263 in 2014, the county’s assessed valuation is lower this year and the same mill levy will generate about $8,056,807 — a difference of $902,456.
The board will approve a budget summary for publication in the Great Bend Tribune, and announce a public budget hearing for 4 p.m. on Aug. 11.
Next year’s operating budget is also on the agenda Tuesday.
Other items on the agenda include a one-year contract with Canvas for its Learning Management System, which will replace e-College Pearson; the Fiscal Year 2015 year-end financial statement; a report on the Contingency Planning policy; personnel and a revision to the Natural Gas Program.
