SMITH COUNTY — A motorist from Horton and his passenger from Hoisington were injured at 2:27 a.m. Saturday after the driver passed another vehicle and then lost control of the car on a Smith County highway.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the accident occurred on K-181, about a mile north of the Osborne /Smith County Line. Connor J. Waser, 19, or Horton, was driving a northbound 1995 Chevrolet Camero and had just passed another vehicle. The Camero went onto the right-hand shoulder then the driver over-corrected. The car crossed the road into the west ditch, struck a driveway and rolled. It then struck a tree row and the car caught on fire, destroying the car.
Waser and passenger Tyler J. Harnett, 22, of Hoisington were taken to Osborne County Memorial Hospital with undetermined injuries. Waser was not wearing a seat belt; Harnett was.
The car was removed by Curry’s Body Shop.
