The Hoisington Cardinals’ forensics team ended their season on Saturday, May 6, at the State Championship Tournament at Wichita Southeast High School.
The Cardinals had nine events competing in the tournament. Braydin Piland performed in Extemporaneous Speech and a Duet with Brayden Stevenson, who performed in Poetry. Vada Kaiser performed in Humorous Solo Acting and Improvised Duet Acting with Jessica Lovett, who gave an Orginal Oration. Kyle Rogers gave his Informative Speech and performed in Improvised Duet Acting with AJ Thurman. Elliott Copp and Alexis Orosco performed in Improvised Duet Acting.
Three events broke into the semifinal rounds: Vada Kaiser’s Humorous Solo, Lovett and Kaiser’s IDA team, and Kyle Rogers’ Informative Speech.
The IDA team placed 8th, Rogers’ Informative ranked 9th, and Kaiser’s Solo ranked 12th.
Other achievements that the team had were bringing home two sweepstakes trophies: second place from Concordia on March 4, and first place from Trego on April 22.
Coach Drew Reisner said he would like to thank all the judges from the community and businesses that donated time, money, and effort to make this a successful season of performances and learning.
