STAFFORD — This is the week of the year that we really spend time looking in two directions: the past and the future. Sandy and I have seen many years end and looked forward to many new years beginning. I guess the take away is to be and do the best you can and forgive yourself for the times you wish you had done better. Have Grace for those around you and learn to listen even if we don’t agree with what we hear. Agree to disagree. Be a lifetime learner and be open to new things. Change has always been hard for me and I need to realize change can be good.

We have seen many changes here at Larabee. If you haven’t been through the doors EVER or not for a while – stop in and see the changes.

One GREAT BIG CHANGE this month has been the hiring of Mike Cargill as our “building everything guy.” Mike was brave enough to take on this job that includes two women who have years of opinions and a building that has over a century of existing. The qualifications that Mike has through years of a variety of careers, including zoo management and high school teaching, has made him uniquely qualified for this new position.

Welcome to the Larabee family Mike. We are “Over the Moon” to have you with us! Sandy and I are looking at the rooms and furniture at Larabee in a new way. January is probably going to be a month of moving furniture and books from room to room to try and better utilize our space and to make special areas for our patrons. Mike said he is up for it and has ways to help us move the big stuff! Forgive us while we are “in the process.”

The ladies that came to the card making workshop are interested in having a monthly time to enjoy this fun craft. If you are interested in an hour of fun and creativity let us know and we will figure out a good hour once a month that fosters your creativity.

A new book challenge starts with the new year and 350 new books come on January 21st. Come see us and have a Happy New Year!
