Children can learn to draw cool cartoons and watch a puppet show this week at the Great Bend Public Library.
Children’s Librarian Dayna Ball said “Cartooning” will be offered at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and “Puppet Theater” is set for 1 p.m. Thursday in the Children’s Department of the library, located at 1409 Williams St. The Children’s Department is for preschoolers through sixth graders.
The drawing skills being taught Wednesday are for kids 4 years old and up, but smaller children can watch and pick up a page to color, Ball said. Some basic concepts of drawing will be taught to the older participants, and a coloring table for everyone will be set up.
“Puppet Theater” is being put on by students in grades 7-12, who participate in the library’s Teen Spot.
“It’s a great collaboration between our younger kids and our older kids,” Ball said. Teens have also been helping with the Kids Fit program for younger children, which concluded on Monday.
