Cellphone confiscated by police at tanning salon
GB police patch

A woman was inside a booth at a local tanning salon on Friday when she reportedly saw a hand holding a cellphone above the partition of the area she was in.
Great Bend Police Chief David Bailey said police were called to E-Z Tan at 1657 K-96 on the afternoon of Feb. 16. Officers arrived and took a cellphone from a male inside the business. The phone was collected as evidence.
A search warrant for the phone has been sought and it will go to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for analysis.
The Great Bend Tribune contacted the store owner, who confirmed that a customer reported she saw a phone, then looked again and saw a hand holding a phone as she was preparing to get into a tanning bed. She notified a business employee who contacted police. Officers arrived while the male customer was still in the salon.
The store owner said customers should know that management takes their privacy seriously and wants people to feel comfortable and safe in the business. The male customer has been banned from the business.
At this time the case is listed as alleged breach of privacy. No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
