The Great Bend City Council Monday night finalized a real estate exchange with CJS Properties, owned by Nelson Stone.
CJS Properties LLC has purchased approximately 35 acres of real estate to the south of the city’s fire station on West 10th Street which has no access to 10th. The only access is through a shared residential drive on Patton Road.
The city’s south property line at the fire station is uneven with approximately .717 acres in the southwest corner needed to make the south line straight across from east to west. CJS proposed to exchange that tract of land for a tract on the west side of the City’s real estate (a 60 by 500-foot easement along the west side of the station property totaling approximately .676 acres) so CJS can gain access from 10th and squaring off the city’s property, City Attorney Robert Suelter said. This will help with future expansion of the Fire Department’s training facility. The agreement was approved in principal on Dec. 17 of last year.
There is no cost to the city.
