Due the recent storm, the City of Great Bend has opened the gates for the public to take trees and limbs into the Compost Site burn area. Pickup trucks will be allowed to dump in the burn area and trailers are to continue to dump at the usual spot, said Street Superintendent James Giles.

The city will not be picking up trees or limbs from yards, he said. “It will be the public’s responsibility to address any damage in your yards.”

At the Compost Site, “we ask that the public be patient as the site may become crowded and congested,” Giles said. Crews will be on site to help direct traffic.

The City Compost site is located at 97 SW 5th Avenue in Great Bend.

Anyone with questions or concerns on site can see details on the city’s website at www.greatbendks.net/116/Compost-Site or contact Giles at 620-793-4150.
