For the second year in a row, as part of its on-going effort to keep the community clean, Great Bend officials are planning a week-long citywide cleanup campaign, it was announced at the City Council meeting Monday night.
The effort will run from Friday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Sept. 17. Sunflower Diversified Services’ fenced lot at 5605 10th St. will be the staging area with roll-off dumpsters where residents can deposit their trash.
“Certainly, let’s take advantage of this opportunity and let’s get things cleaned up as we can,” City Administrator Brandon Anderson said.
The hours will be:
• Friday, Sept. 8 – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 9 – 1-5 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 10 – 1-5 p.m.
• Monday through Friday, Sept. 11-15 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 16 – 1-5 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 17 – 1-5 p.m.
They will accept tires, metal, ma tresses and appliances, but no household hazardous waste will be taken, Anderson said.
“We are partnering with Sunflower Diversified,” he said. “So there’ll be a recycling component to what we’re doing.”
That means, also accepted will be the items taken by Sunflower, he said.
