STAFFORD COUNTY – A Claflin man was found dead following a one-vehicle crash about four miles west of Hudson (about seven miles north of St. John) early Monday morning, according to a news release from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim has been identified as Trevor R. Cates of Claflin. He was dead at the scene, the release said.
At about 5:47 a.m. Monday, officers from the SCSO and Stafford County Fire and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the 1500 block of NE 10 Avenue. When authorities arrived, they found a 2002 Pontiac passenger car overturned in the west ditch facing north.
Cates was located pinned underneath the passenger side of the car, the SCSO reported. It appears as though Cates was south bound when his vehicle went off the roadway, into the ditch, rolled about one time and came to rest on its wheels.
Cates was ejected from the car and found with it on top of him, the release said.
The incident remains under investigation.
