Clara Barton Medical Center will host a National Walk @ Lunch Day event on Wednesday. This come-and-go event will start at 11:30 a.m. and continue to 1 p.m. at the Clara Barton Medical Clinic, at 906 McKinley St. in Great Bend.
CBMC invites the community to wear their walking shoes and take advantage of the walking trail around their Great Bend Clinic location.
Clara’s Corner Café will provide the first 50 attendees with a complimentary sack lunch and all attendees will have a chance to register to win door prizes. Those participating in National Walk @ Lunch Day are encouraged to post a selfie or group photo to the Clara Barton Medical Center Facebook page and use the hashtag #NWLDKS.
Those who are not able to join the walk at the Clara Barton Clinic are encouraged to walk at their own place of employment.
National Walk @ Lunch Day is designed to encourage busy people to take a walk during their lunch break and start a healthy routine. Walking is one of the easiest and most effective forms of exercise and, when done briskly and on a regular basis, 30 minutes of walking can decrease the risk of heart attack and type-2 diabetes, control weight, improve muscle tone, and reduce stress.
