Commission talks Hoisington revitalization, GB council picks new council member

The Barton County Commission will meet Monday morning and the Great Bend City Council will meet Monday evening.

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19. It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes a conditional-use permit for a telecommunications tower southeast of Great Bend, the Neighborhood Revitalization Plan for the City of Hoisington, Health Department Advisory Committee appointments, a matching funds request from SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging and the continuation of the county’s Workfit contract. 

The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the Great Bend Events Center, 3111 10th St., and the meeting will be open to the public.

But, due to COVID-19, one can also view the meetings on Access TV via Cox Cable Channel 20 or live online at www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/. The meeting will be recorded.

The agenda includes appointment of Davis Jimenez as Ward 3 council member, repairs to the city’s levees and the Most Generous City award from the  Golden Belt Community Foundation.
