Council considers Brit Spaugh Park bid; Commission looks at HVAC change orders

The Great Bend City Council will meet Monday night and the Barton County Commission will meet Tuesday morning, and both plan virtual meetings.

The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at City Hall, 1209 Williams. One can also view the meetings on Access TV via online at www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/. The meeting will be recorded. 

The agenda includes:

•  A rezoning request from Steve Baize for 127 South U.S. 281.

• The purchase of pickups for the Utilities Department.

• Brit Spaugh Park design Services, for the south end of the park.

• An executive session to discuss “information deemed privileged in the attorney-client relation” to seek legal advise for pending legal matters.

• A tour of the new, nearly completed, Justice Center.


County Commission

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the former JC Penney building, 1500 Kansas in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

• Central Kansas Community Corrections request for proposal  for its “The Family Peace Initiative” classes.

• Change orders for the Courthouse HVAC replacement project.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

• 9:45 a.m.  – financial update with County Administrator Matt Patzner.

• 10 a.m. – maintenance agreements with Motorola with 911 Director Dena Popp.

• 10:30 a.m. – mental health and incarceration costs with The Center for Counseling and Consultation Executive Director Julie Kramp.

• 11 a.m. – regular business discussion with County Administrator Matt Patzner.
