The Great Bend City Council will meet Tuesday night and the Barton County Commission will meet Wednesday morning, and both plan virtual meetings due to COVID-19 public gathering restrictions.
The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (due to Monday being Presidents Day), at City Hall, 1209 Williams. One can also view the meetings on Access TV via Cox Cable Channel 20 or live online at www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/.The meeting will be recorded.
• Holiday Inn Express ownership transfer for the Community Improvement District.
• A public hearing for an unsafe structure at 214 Locust St.
• Designating 15-minute parking zone in the sixth stall east of Williams Street on the North side of Forest Street.
• A charter ordinance governing the appointment, term and salary of municipal officers.
• The sublease of an Expo Complex building by the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce to the Fair Board.
• An executive session to discuss matters of “attorney-client privilege.”
• A work session to discuss quality of life projects.
The commission
The commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.
It will be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:
• An electric lock system for the county building at 1800 12th St. that houses, among other things, the Juvenile Services office.
• Security awareness training for all employees who access a Barton County computer.
• Repairs to a landfill compactor.
• The annual Computer Information Concepts Inc. software agreement.
• The lease of the building at 1500 Kansas for use as temporary offices during the Courthouse HVAC replacement project.
