County Commission marks Colon Cancer Week, GB council talks artificial turf

The Barton County Commission will meet Monday morning and the Great Bend City Council will meet Monday evening.

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19. It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes a Colon Cancer Awareness Month proclamation, a Severe Weather Awareness Week proclamation and the county’s participation in the Federal Funds Exchange program.

The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the Great Bend Events Center, 3111 10th St., and the meeting will be open to the public.

But, due to COVID-19, one can also view the meetings on Access TV via Cox Cable Channel 20 or live online at www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/. The meeting will be recorded.

The agenda includes a $600,000 community development block grant to help fund improvements to an approximately 13 block section of Broadway between Polk & Morton Streets and the reconstruction of the intersection at 19th & Harrison, the artificial turf project for the Great Bend Sports Complex and an executive session for matters of attorney-client privilege.
