County considers landfill, city considers emergency plan

The Barton County Commission will meet Monday morning and the Great Bend City Council will meet Monday evening.

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes a Colon Cancer Awareness Month proclamation, a Severe Weather Awareness Week proclamation and proposals for the expansion of the Barton County Landfill.

The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the City Office, 1209 Williams. The agenda includes the city’s hazard Mitigation Plan, the city’s new Emergency Operations Plan, a report on the Crest Theater, an executive session for matters of attorney-client privilege and a study session for the Professional Engineering Consultants design agreement for the Sunflower Rod and Custom Association dragstrip.
