County offices to close for Fourth of July
county commission last meeting

Barton County business offices, the Health Department, the Sheriff’s Office Records Division and the Solid Waste Landfill will be closed on Tuesday, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Emergency services will be in normal operation.

As a result of the closing, the next County Commission meeting will be Tuesday, July 11 (the first meeting on a Tuesday since the commission voted to switch from Wednesdays). It will take place at the 1500 Kansas building, the temporary home of county offices while the Courthouse HVAC system is being replaced.

The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. instead of the regular 9 a.m. because commissioners may attend the ground breaking for the new Advancing Barton County Childcare day care facility in Great Bend at 9 a.m. at Farmer’s Plaza on the corner of 10th Street and K-96.
