Debt refinance saves $306,000 at BCC

 Barton Community College has refinanced its debt on the Library renovation and the addition to the Technical Building, paid for in 2008 with certificates of participation. The BCC Board of Trustees on Tuesday authorized a new lease-purchase agreement at lower interest rates.
Administrators report the net savings to the college will be $306,056 over the term of the issue. The average interest rate on the outstanding Series 2008 Certificates is 5.13 percent and the average interest rate on the new certificates is 3.34 percent.


In other business, the following new employees were approved on the Barton County campus: Caryn Kaiser, secretary at Workforce Training; Jenna Wondra, assistant director of Human Resources; Javier Ceja, assistant coach for track and cross country; and Rayna Engel, administrative assistant in the vice president’s office. Rodney Stanfield was hired as an information services technician at Fort Riley.
Nursing instructor Jane Youngers and part-time Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) instructor Andra Alderson were released from their contracts.
