Angela DeVore, chaplain at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center, has been participating in the Cancer Center Kitchen Therapy events this year and encourages others to join in.

          The next session is set for noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17 in the basement-level St. Dominic Room at St. Rose. It is free and open to the public.

          “Yes, Kitchen Therapy is designed with cancer patients in mind but anyone can benefit,” DeVore said. “The dietitians provide great nutritional information, along with helpful ways to prepare meals and snacks.”

          DeVore and Gloria Siefkes, St. Rose nurse, along with a few others have been preparing recipes and sharing them at the monthly events.

          “Not only is Kitchen Therapy educational, it is also fun,” DeVore commented. “The recipes are tasty and easy to prepare.”

          Leigh Wagner and Randy Evans, both dietitians at The University of Kansas Medical Center, lead the interactive televideo (ITV) discussions.

          The Midwest Cancer Alliance (MCA), which is the outreach arm of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, offers these classes; St. Rose is an MCA member.
