Area students accept scholarships from Fort Hays State University

Seven area students have accepted scholarships from Fort Hays State University for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Dayna Ball - a 2008 Ellinwood High School graduate and an FHSU senior, accepted a $500 Student Awareness Campaign Scholarship. Ball is the daughter of Monte and Rachelle Widener, Ellinwood. She is majoring in art.
Paul Barrientes - a 2013 Sylvan/Lucas High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in teacher education. Barrientes is the son of Steve and Allison Geist, Lucas. He is majoring in elementary education.
Savanna Huff - a 2013 Russell High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Huff is the daughter of Justin and Natalie Yarmer, Russell. She plans to major in finance.
Karissa Langlois - a 2013 Macksville High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in physics. Langlois is the daughter of Jed and Sharon Langlois, Macksville. She plans to major in physics.
Sarah Leatherman - a 2013 Russell High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in communication studies. Leatherman is the daughter of James Leatherman, Canadian, Texas, and Michelle Hoy, Logandale, Nev. She plans to major in communication.
Tyler Maier - a 2013 Otis-Bison High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in agriculture. Maier is the son of Brian and Janelle Maier, Otis. He plans to major in agronomy.
Elizabeth Rhodes - a 2013 Russell High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in art and design. Rhodes is the daughter of Robert and Sarah Rhodes, Russell. She plans to major in art education.
