Barton Community College representatives lent a helping hand Wednesday during the Stuff the Bus donation campaign for United Way of Central Kansas.
Students and staff helped transfer donations from Barton’s van, which was filled with goods collected from college employees and students, to a Great Bend USD 428 school bus, which was stationed at Walmart to collect additional goods from shoppers.
Executive Director of the United Way of Central Kansas Julie Bugner-Smith said the efforts by Barton were very beneficial to the campaign.
“Barton is vital to the ‘Stuff the Bus’ campaign,” she said. “People don’t realize how involved they are in the community. The staff and the students all get involved, and it’s a win-win because all donations stay right here in the community.  We’re always excited to have Barton be a part of this program.”
