The Barton County Sheriff’s Reserves recently presented scholarships to Andrew Baker and Jonathon Browne.Spokesman J.P. Postlethwaite said the BSCO Reserves give two $500 scholarships annually. These are given to a senior of any high school in Barton County or a Barton Community College student. The student has to be a resident of Barton County, must be attending Barton College and studying in criminal justice, nursing or a fire/EMS field.“This program has had great success, and we have had 80 percent of the recipients return to employment in law enforcement, nursing, fire/EMS somewhere in our county,” Postlethwaite said.Baker is the son of Stuart and Lisa Baker of Great Bend.
