The Ellinwood FBLA chapter has been very busy these last few weeks. From March 23 to March 25, 29 members and two advisors traveled to Topeka to compete at the State FBLA Conference. Members took tests and gave presentations, both in groups and individually. Ellinwood came out with multiple awards at the ceremony on Wednesday and 11 members qualified for nationals. The National Conference will be held in Chicago, June 27-July 3.
Competing at the National Conference will be, the second place Community Service Team of Cassidy Schlessinger, Anna Clawson and Mattie Shafer. Also Betsy Snell qualified for second place in Computer Applications. The American Enterprise team that qualified in second place composed of Maddie Hayes, Hunter Miller and Bailey Baird. Cody Woodruff and Josiah Caspers took first to qualify in Network Design. In addition, Cody Woodruff also placed first in Website Design. Also taking first was Mattie Shafer in Client Services, and qualifying for nationals is Connor Ewing with a second-place in Spreadsheet Applications.
Many members worked very hard and were recognized, but barely missed the bar for Nationals. The Partnership with Business Team of Katelyn Lefebvre, Brynlee Baker and Hunter Miller placed fourth at the conference. An individual that also made it on stage was Cassidy Schlessinger, who placed fourth in Computer Applications. Theron Sjogren, Marc Waite and Gavin Vink placed 6th in Sports and Entertainment Marketing. Also on stage were Emma Ricker, Brittney Beck and Brynlee Baker with the fourth place Business Ethics event, Cody Wondra competed in the Agribusiness test and he took sixth place in the state.
To help fundraise for the National Conference, FBLA will be participating in City Wide Garage Sale on April 18. Community members are encouraged to stop by the west side of the school, on April 18, and check out the items that FBLA has to offer.
Also be watching for the Showered with Flowers pinwheels, which will soon be adorning the lawns in Ellinwood. If you would like to participate by asking for a pinwheel to be placed in a yard, email Lorie Betts lbetts@usd355.org or codywoodruff15@usd355.org.
