Barton Community College Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Darnell Holopirek and Hoisington USD 431 Superintendent Bill Lowry show the Sandzén reproductions that the district recently received to take the place of the original pieces sold at auction last summer. These high-quality photo reproductions take the place of the originals, sold for $170,000. Artist Birger Sandzén painted the original watercolors and donated them to the school. Money raised will be used for scholarships. Two plaques identify the pieces of art that were purchased and donated to USD 431 in 1946 and 1953 by each respective senior class at Hoisington High School.
