Great Bend High School Band held their large ensemble contest at the GBHS Gym on March 10, with both Varsity and Junior Varsity Bands receiving I ratings. Mr. Bill Clausing from St. John was the adjudicator/clinician and said many favorable comments. The Varsity Band performed “Where the Black Hawk Soars,” and “Light Eternal.” Selections the JV Band played were “Park Street Celebration” and “Water Music Suite.” On March 16, 60 band members and 11 sponsors went to Branson, Mo. where they performed at the Clay Cooper Theatre through the Branson Live on Stage organization. They received a standing ovation and a huge trophy for their performance. Selections were: Patriotic Parade Sequence, Salute to America’s Finest, and Stars and Stripes Forever. The three day trip concluded on March 18 after a day at Silver Dollar City, Branson Landing, and the Titanic Museum.
