HAYS — Sixteen GBHS scholars participated in the 39th annual Fort Hays State University Math Relays on Thursday, Nov. 9. Approximately 742 participants from 56 schools competed at this annual event.
In Using Number Sense the 11th grade team Nolan Barton, Marcus Schmeidler and Matt Zorn placed 2nd. The 12th grade team of Camryn Dunekack, Baleigh Fry and Annie Mills placed 3rd. Individually, 9th grader Cal Dunekack placed 9th.
In the Trigonometry event the 12th grade team of Baleigh Fry, Addison Ingram and Annie Mills placed 8th. In Algebraic Manipulations sophomore Allen To placed 9th as an individual. The 9th grade team of Jaime Arellanes, Cal Dunekack and Will Linenberger placed 7th and the senior team of Camryn Dunekack, Baleigh Fry and Annie Mills placed 2nd.
In Informal Geometry, Measurement event the sophomore team of Daniel Abbott, Sayra Solis and Allen To placed 2nd. In the individual portion of that event freshmen Cal Dunekack placed 2nd and Will Linenberger placed 9th.
In Calculations with Calculators the senior team of Addison Ingram, Lindsey Newman and Paloma Sandoval placed 5th. In the individual portion Allen To placed 3rd and Camryn Dunekack placed 9th.
As a school, Great Bend High School received a trophy for 3rd place in the 4A-5A-6A division of the contest. The students were accompanied by Tina Hiss, sponsor.
