A team from Great Bend High School was one of 52 teams that took in the Super Saturday qualifying event of the Quest High School Academic Competition on Dec. 3 at Washburn University.
The GBHS team included Mary Beouy, Erin Bentley, Matt Moyd, Kelsey Dirck and Kiley Flint.
The contest allows teams of high school students from across Kansas to compete against one another in answering questions on topics such as math, science, art, literature and history.
Teams earning the top 16 scores advanced to the televised finals and will return to Topeka several times for taping sessions.  The televised games will air on KTWU from February through May 2012, when the champion will be named. More information is available at washburn.edu/quest.
However, the Great Bend squad didn’t place in the top 16.
The contest is co-sponsored by KTWU-PBS station, Washburn University, Learning Quest 59 Education Savings Program and Security Benefit. The Kansas National Education Association provides substantial support for the production of Quest TV games, which are produced by KTWU and Washburn University.
