Great Bend area students accept scholarships to Fort Hays State University

Area students have accepted scholarships to Fort Hays State University for the 2014-2015 school year.
Central Plains High School: Breanna Holmes, a 2014 Central Plains High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in biological sciences and an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Holmes, daughter of Toby and Sheri Holmes, Claflin, plans a career in medicine.
Ellinwood High School: Hannah Billinger, a 2014 Ellinwood High School graduate, accepted an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Billinger, daughter of Steven and Lora Billinger, Ellinwood, plans to major in history education.
Michelle Miller, a 2011 Ellinwood High School graduate and an FHSU junior, accepted a $1,000 Alan Fullbright Memorial Scholarship. Miller, daughter of Steve and Kim Miller, plans to major in elementary education.
Great Bend High School: Amy Christopher, a 2013 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Christopher, daughter of Rick Christopher, and Alina Hinson, both of Great Bend, plans to major in radiologic technology.
Bryce Beck, a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $500 Copper Academic Award. Beck is the son of Randy and Daphne Beck, Great Bend.
Derion Burnside, a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Burnside, son of Candie Baldwin, Great Bend, plans to major in marketing.
John Graham, a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Graham, son of Jim and Kathy Graham, Great Bend, plans a career in physical therapy.
Marissa Hoisington, a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $1,000 Paul and Virginia Miller scholarship. Hoisington, daughter of Matt and Mary Hoisington, Great Bend, plans to major in nursing.
Richard Lara, a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Lara, son of Amador and Veronica Lara, Great Bend, plans to major in business administration.
Devani Prieto, a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in sociology and social work and a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Prieto, daughter of Jose and Maria Prieto, Great Bend, plans to major in social work.
Dillon Reiser, a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate, accepted a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Reiser, son of Dave and Trish Reiser, Great Bend, plans to major in business.

Home school: Bryan Pattison, a 2014 home school graduate, accepted a $2,000 FHSU Presidential Award, a $1,200 Miller Black and Gold Academic Award and a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in physics. Pattison, son of Charles Harding and Felicia Squires, Sterling, and Jim Pattison, plans to major in physics.
La Crosse High School: Taylor Yohe, a 2014 La Crosse High School graduate, accepted a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in agriculture. Yohe, son of Bryan and Michelle Yohe, La Crosse, plans to major in agricultural business.
Larned High School: Reaghan Burris, a 2014 Larned High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in allied health and a $500 Copper Academic Award. Burris, daughter of Jeff and Tiffany Burris, Larned, plans to major in radiologic technology.

Russell High School: Steven Rose, a 2014 Russell High School graduate, accepted an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Rose is the son of Greg Rose, Russell.
