Anyone interested in learning more about Incredible Years preschool is invited to its open house where staff members will share information about the curriculum and other activities. The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 8, at the preschool, 1312 Patton Road.

"This open house is not only for parents of those currently enrolled," said Cathy Estes, Incredible Years coordinator. "It is also for parents considering fall enrollment and anyone else interested in hearing about our great program. Everyone is invited."

The preschool is designed for any child ages 2-and-a-half to 5 and enrollment is now open for the fall semester. Classes for the older children, ages 3-and-a-half to 5, will begin on Aug. 22 and end on Dec. 19. These students attend classes from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, with optional Fridays.

"We started the optional Fridays for the older children last year and it was extremely popular," Estes said. "Our Itty Bitty Bookworm curriculum remains the focus earlier in the week, but on Fridays we concentrate more on kindergarten preparation. We also allow for more exploration in art and science, with more hands-on activities."

Those who are 2-and-a-half to 3-and-a-half will begin on Aug. 23 and their semester ends on Dec. 20. Classes are from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The regular curriculum for all children includes social/emotional development, language, literature, communications, art, science, physical development and imaginative play.

"This exceptional curriculum provides a nice balance of learning and fun for our little ones," Estes commented. "Our teachers do a wonderful job of relating to the children, while providing structure for the best in early education."

Program directors are Jolene Hindman and Shari Schneider. They also share teaching duties with Jessica Kraisinger.

A limited number of scholarships are available for those who qualify. For more information or a preschool application, call 620-792-4087.
