The Kansas State Fair announced that Logan Evers, Great Bend, is the inaugural recipient of the Ron and Carolyn Holland Scholarship. Logan was chosen for exemplifying outstanding character, perseverance, work ethic, ingenuity and demonstrated scholastic achievement, consistent with the values endeared by the Holland family.
The Ron and Carolyn Holland Scholarship was established in 2013 by Ron Holland in remembrance of his late wife Carolyn. Ron and Carolyn have a lengthy relationship with the Kansas State Fair including Supervisor of the Open Beef Cattle shows. “In my work at the Kansas State Fair I had the opportunity to witness Kansas youth at their best. We wanted to be able to provide financial support to a well deserving Kansas Youth involved in Agriculture and the Kansas State Fair,” said Ron Holland.
Applicants for the Holland Scholarship were required to be a high school senior and a current or past 4-H/FFA member entering an accredited college academic program majoring in an agriculture related field of study to apply.
Logan Evers attends Great Bend High School with a 3.9 GPA and is ranked in the top 10% of his senior class. He is actively involved in 4-H and FFA along with many other activities in his community. In the future Evers would like to receive an Agriculture degree that will allow him to obtain a job in plant research. Evers will receive a $2,000 scholarship that will be equally divided over a four year period.
