Sunflower Bank awards scholarships to area students

Sunflower Bank in Great Bend and Ellinwood recently wrapped up the Community Ambassador Program. The program gives high school seniors the opportunity to hone skills, experience life after high school, network with local leaders and explore unique elements of their hometown.
Earning scholarships through the program: Sophie Hayes, Ashley Hardcastle and Kyle Oglesbee from Ellinwood High School, earned $500 scholarships; Jami McVay from Great Bend High School earned a $750 scholarship.
“As a community bank, we’re dedicated to the development of leaders – and students and young people are important resources for the future of all of our towns and cities,” said Becca Maxwell, retail service manager. “Students have the chance to hit the ground running when they head to college – and many gain a new perspective on their hometown.”
Since 2006, the bank was awarded over $194,000 in scholarships to 255 students. Applications are being accepted for the senior class of 2015 at www.sunflowerbank.com/cap.
