The filing deadline for the 2021 election is noon Monday, June 1, Barton County Election officer Donna Zimmerman said. On ballots will be city elected officials (mayors and council members), Barton Community College trustees, an Ellinwood Hospital District trustee position, and Cottonwood Extension District Number 17 representatives.
All candidates must now file at the Barton County Clerk’s Office, Room 202, 1400 Main, Great Bend. The filing fee for all positions is $20.
The election is set for Nov. 2. But, if the number of candidates filing for office necessitates a primary election, that will be held Aug. 3.
Any registered voter residing in the above named districts may file for election on or before the filing deadline.

Here are the positions that will be up for election:
City of Great Bend – mayor and four council member, one from each ward
• City of Hoisington – mayor and four council member, one from each ward
• City of Ellinwood – mayor and two council member positions
• City of Claflin – three council member positions
• City of Albert – mayor and five council member positions
• City of Galatia – mayor and five council member positions
• City of Olmitz – three council member positions
• City of Pawnee Rock – three council member positions
• City of Susank – mayor and five council member positions
• Unified School District 428 - three board member positions at-large
• Unified School District 431 – three board member positions at-large
• Unified School District 355 - three board member positions at-large plus
• Barton County Community College - three Board of Trustees positions at-large
• Ellinwood Hospital District - one Board of Trustees positions at-large
• Cottonwood Extension District No. 17 - two board member positions at-large
