Foundation awards nearly $100,000 in community grants

The Russell County Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce the 2015 spring grant recipients. The Foundation received 37 grant applications with requests totaling more than $200,000. A total of $99,620 in grants were awarded for charitable projects across the Russell County area.
Think Big, Think Russell County
Funding for this grant supports a project that has significant impact in the Russell County area.
A $29,000 grant was awarded to USD 407 to build a safe, updated playground for Simpson Elementary that will be used for years to come. Children will use the playground to play soccer, kickball, and other fun games on a surface of smart rubber mulch.
Dane G. Hansen Grants
Funding for these grants comes from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to support health and human services needs, community beautification, inter-generational programs or projects, the arts, and environmental programs or projects.
