A group led by Foundry Methodist Church members formed a motorcade on Sunday and drove by the homes of its sick and elderly members. Some sang or played music as they drove by, said retired Great Bend teacher Lorrayne Eveleigh, who watched the parade go past her home. Other drivers honked and waved.
“It was uplifting to our spirit,” she said. “That was a wonderful way to encourage us.”
It was a great way to stay in touch without having to physically touch people, she added.
Vernon and Karen Hayes and Tom Klug were among the organizers in eight vehicles.
