This week, members of the Great Bend High School Marching Band have spent their days in “band camp,” learning the music and marching routines for the start of the fall semester. Freshmen and new marchers started camp Monday morning and the full band came together that afternoon.

Band Director Grant Mathews said the musicians start at 8 a.m. every day and work until 4 p.m.

Band camp wraps up today with the band parents invited to come to GBHS at 4 p.m. to see a showcase performance of what the students learned this week. The show/parents' meeting will last 30-45 minutes.

The band performs at halftime at all home football games.

Practice for high school and middle school sports starts on Aug. 15.
