The Great Bend High School debate team competed at the a Gusta High School Invitational Debate Tournament on Saturday. All three teams competed in the varsity division. Ashtin Heath and Aaron Miller placed first with a perfect 5-0 win loss record and almost perfect speaker points with only dropping one speaker point through all five rounds of competition. Also competing for the team were second year debaters Lisa Marlow and Geoffrey Pafford and first year debaters Darian Harbaugh and Patrick Heath.
Coach Barbara Watson stated this was the last invitational debate tournament for the season and they ended on a strong note. The squad has had at least one team place at every tournament they have competed in this year. The team is now preparing for the four-speaker varsity regional tournament that will be held on Dec. 17, at Newton High School.
