On Nov. 2 the Great Bend High School Debate Squad competed at Salina-Sacred Heart’s Debate tournament. Four teams competed in two divisions. In the novice division, Trae Black and Malia Clark placed 3rd. In the varsity division, Marissa Hoisington and Kameko Schultz placed 3rd. The debate squad placed 3rd in sweepstakes with 10 wins against 18 schools and 60 teams. The open teams, Kris and Michael Gieck and Jesus Sandoval and Carter Sheffield, also competed just missed winning medals and contributed to the team’s sweepstakes winning. The Great Bend High School Debate Squad plans on competing at Liberal next weekend.
