Twenty-six band students from Great Bend High School competed in 20 events at the Regional Music Festival on April 13 at Barton Community College.
Soloists receiving I’s were: Taylor Lampe, trumpet; Nathan Brungardt, bari-saxiphone; Catherine Barrington, flute; and Taylor Fry, flute. II’s were awarded to: Michelle Rooney, euphonium; Megan Wesley, Anna Frizell, Taylor Dougherty, clarinet; Abigail Rose, Athena VanderMeer, flute; Estella Schumacher, Ben Diel, trumpet; Kaitlynn Tuey and Alexis Woods, clarinet, received III’s.
The Brass Ensemble (Taylor Lampe, Estella Schumacher, Stephanie Langer, Genesis Rose, Logan Boyd, Michelle Rooney, Kayn Milholland) received a I. Ensembles awarded II’s were: Mixed Woodwind Trio (Peter Marston, Megan Wesley, Rachael Gros), Clarinet Trio (Anna Frizell, Maycie Hestand, Sarah Keller), Trombone Trio (Genesis Rose, Kira Bunn, Logan Boyd), Percussion Quintet (Shastian Schad, Maxwell McGilber, Kayn Milholland, Kira Bunn, Rachael Gros). The Woodwind Trio (Macey Hestand, Sarah Keller, Gabe Zorn) got a III.
Those receiving I ratings will compete at Emporia High School on April 27. Times will be announced later. The public is invited to attend this competition which is free.
