Superior and excellent describe the Great Bend High School musician’s scores at Regional Music Contest held April 9, at Barton Community College. Eight band events, five vocal soloists and one orchestra solo received “I” ratings, while nine band events, nine orchestra solos, and one vocal solos received “II”s. “I”s went to the Brass Sextet, Ben Diel, Aaron Schultz, Allison Regehr, Aubrey Maneth, Matthew Phillips, Kayn Milholland; the Low Brass Ensemble, Aubrey Maneth, Matthew Phillips, Tristan McHenry, Andrew Curtright, Malachi Williams; soloists, Ben Diel, trumpet; Allison Regehr, French horn; Aubrey Maneth, trombone; Andrew Curtright, euphonium; Kayn Milholland, tuba; Eric Vazquez, contra alto clarinet; Dorian Lueth, viola; and Aubrey Maneth, Allison Muth, Katherine Snapp, Ethan Wedel, Kayn Milholland, voice. Those receiving “II”s were, Woodwind Trio, Magdiel Rodriguez, Kaia Parks; String Quartet, Emily Beck, Kourtney Adams, Sara Nelson, Tianna Farris; String Ensemble, Xitlaly Espino, Ema Millard, Dorian Lueth, A. J. Roberts, Dylan Sateren, Nolan Barton, Christie Stark, Kaia Parks, flute; Kaitlin Adams, Daniela Astrain-Favela, clarinet; Robby Brining, Brook Jones, Ozioma Ofoma, saxophone; Andrew Erb, trumpet; Elizabeth Gerdes, quint percussion; Dylan Sateren, Ema Millard, Christie Stark, Alex Arnold, A.J. Roberts, Eduardo Prado, violin; Nolan Barton, Tianna Farris, cello; and Audrey Muth, voice. III’s went to Woodwind Quintet, Kaia Parks, Magdiel Rodriguez, Kaitlin Adams, Allison Regehr, Ozioma Ofoma; and Kaycee Smith, Jackie Enriquez, violin.
Accompanist for the band solos was Mrs. Marlene Regehr, Mr. Dennis Johnson and Mr. Steven Lueth played for the string soloists. Instrumental teachers are Mr. Mark DeWald and Mr. Austin Russell, band; and Mr. Isaac Enochs and Ms. Alyssa Lane, orchestra. The vocalists are private students of Mrs. Glenna Gaunt and Mrs. Betty Erickson. The soloists and ensembles who received “I”s will compete on April 23 at Emporia High School.
