GBHS starting band camps next week

Great Bend High School freshmen band members, drum majors and section leaders will meet Monday, Aug. 4-8 and Aug. 11-13 to prepare for the upcoming marching season. Drum majors and section leaders will congregate at 7:30 a.m., with freshmen needing to check out a school instrument meet at the high school at 7:45. The schedule has few days, but longer times this year so the Panther Pride Marching Band will be prepared for the many fall activities. The entire freshman band will start playing at 8-11:30 a.m. and also from 1-3 p.m.
Varsity Band members will report at 8 a.m. on Aug. 7 and 8, and also Aug. 11-13 to review their basics and learn new music. Rehearsals are mandatory for all band students who wish to travel with the band to the Labor Day Parade, KSU Band Day, and the Kansas State Fair.
Uniform check out will take place during the camp times.
Jazz Band members will have practices on Aug. 14 and 15 from 1-2:15 p.m. to prepare for the high school Open House, and other fall activities.
