Art by Great Bend High School students is on display this month at the Great Bend Public Library.
“If you haven’t been in recently you should come check out the ceramics, 3-D art and drawings,” said Elizabeth Dukelow at the library. “The art is amazing and there will be a reception on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 2-4 p.m.”
GBHS art instructor Sergio Ramirez said the exhibit includes pieces from students in grades 9-12.
“It is the second year we are putting this show on and we are very thankful the library has allowed us to showcase the student work once again,” he said.
Art students continue to work on new projects in the second semester of the 2017-2018 school year. They are looking forward to more exhibits in the spring, including Fort Hays State University’s High School Art Day, and a similar exhibit at Barton Community College known as Vortex Day.
There is also a new show, the Southwest Kansas League Art Show, which will be held in Garden City. “This show is something that Garden City and Great Bend have been working on and will include Garden City, Liberal and Great Bend,” Ramirez said. “Eventually we hope to get the other WAC schools involved as well.” Dodge City and Hays are also in the Western Athletic Conference.
