Barton Community College’s Center for Adult Education will soon be starting its nine-week GED Preparation Class.The orientation session, which is a prerequisite for the course, will be held from 9-11 a.m. on March 21, 22 and 24 at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend. Registration is recommended and the deadline is March 11.Regular coursework begins on Tuesday, March 29 due to the college being closed on Monday and is offered from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Tuesday and Thursday or in the evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.Barton’s Coordinator of Adult Education Chris Lemon said he hopes students will view the GED as an open doorway to greater opportunities in post-secondary education. Barton has taken steps to incentivize this type of long-term thinking among its GED students with some significant scholarship opportunities.There is a one-time $50 fee for materials.
