Glow for Life aims to prevent suicide
1-Tribune

The Suicide Prevention Task Force of Barton County will sponsor its fifth annual Golden Belt Glow for Life event on June 2.
The 5K race/1 mile walk will raise awareness about suicide and raise money to support local suicide prevention education.
“Everyone has trouble in his or her own life at some point,” said Holly Bowyer, task force member. “Help is available. It’s just a matter of making sure everyone knows where to go for it.
“Having the resources and education to know the signs and symptoms may help save someone’s life,” Bowyer said.
Events like this help bring the problem to the forefront and funds raised will help let people know what help is available locally, she said.
To participate in the Glow for Life, email Bowyer at hollyb@thecentergb.org and request a registration form.
Check-in for the Friday, June 2 event is at 7:15 p.m. at the large shelter house on the west side of Veterans Lake. Cost is $25 and those registering by May 19 will receive a T-shirt. After that deadline entrants are not guaranteed a shirt.
Bowyer said planners are hoping for a showing of 100 to 200 entrants.
