The Great Bend Recreation Commission has closed the GB Rec Center/City Auditorium and GB Activity Center, and canceled recreation programs and activities scheduled for the week of March 16-22. 

Executive Director Diann Henderson announced the decision Monday afternoon. 

The Recreation Commission is monitoring the latest information and guidelines provided by Kansas Department of Health and Environment on the COVID-19 virus, a GBRC news release stated. Essential employees will report to work sites during this period for staff education on proper procedures and guidelines as required by KDHE to limit the spread of COVID-19 virus.

When facilities reopen, GBRC encourages general preventive measures for everyone attending the Great Bend Rec facilities and programs to help prevent the transmission of the virus:  

• Stay home when sick

• Proper and frequent hand washing

• Cover mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing

• Avoid contact with people who are sick
