GRAHAM COUNTY — A Great Bend teen was one of two people taken to the hospital as a result of a two-car crash in Graham County Tuesday morning, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.

According to the KHP, a 2018 Chevy Malibu driven by Tammy J. Sumpter, 47, of Tipton, was eastbound on U.S. 24 one mile east of Hill City just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. The car struck a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup driven by  Dylan Edwards, 17, of Great Bend, who failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled out in front of Sumpter.

Both Sumpter and Edwards were transported by emergency medical services to Graham County Hospital in Hill City. Sumpter’s injuries were suspected to be minor and Edwards was listed as having a possible injury since he was experiencing pain.

Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash, according to the KHP.
