Mitch Haney has announced his candidacy for re-election to the City Council Ward One in Great Bend.  In a statement submitted to the Tribune, he said:
I have been proud to represent the citizens of Ward One as well as all the citizens of Great Bend for the past four years.
 Born and raised in Claflin, I have spent the past 25 years as a business owner in Great Bend. I have operated Mitchell K. Haney and Associates for the past 35 years offering employee benefits to many of the businesses in Great Bend. 
Dealing with employers and employees on a daily basis has given me a broad understanding of the problems they face everyday to keep their business open. With that in mind, I will fight to support the use of local employers whenever possible. 
They truly are the future of growth in Great Bend. I will also support the recruiting of new businesses to Great Bend no matter what the pay scale.
 My wife Shawn and our three children have been very proud to call Great Bend our home.  I have always said “Great Bend is a great place to come home, too.”
