“Happy Hour” will take on a whole new meaning for those who attend the next Interactive Television (ITV) presentation at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center.
The official name of the presentation is “Happy Hour: A Celebration of Healthy Humor.” It is scheduled for 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 in the basement-level St. Dominic Room; there is no charge and it is open to the public.
“This Happy Hour isn’t about sipping umbrella drinks,” said Mary Pebley, program presenter. “We will explore the science of happiness, discuss its key components and participate in fun activities.”
St. Rose’s ITV presentations are designed for those who live with cancer or other chronic physical condition, and their loved ones. They are co-sponsored by the Midwest Cancer Alliance; St. Rose is an MCA member.
“We will discuss attitudes and habits that promote happiness,” Pebley said. “This is a great opportunity to learn more about the positive effects of emotions on our health. Many would say that living with chronic illness robs us of happiness. This session can help dispel that notion.
“Happiness is a universal desire,” Pebley continued. “This event gives us a chance to explore ways to have more ‘happy hours.’ If you are already happy, come and share your secret with others – and have fun doing it.”
Pebley, a humor therapist who lives in Kansas City, is the founder of Funny Business, and a national speaker and consultant known for her entertaining style.
