STERLING — Three Hoisington High School forensics performers brought back 

an eighth-place overall team finish and several qualifications for the May 6 state speech and drama festival on Feb. 4.

Hoisington Debate and Forensics Coach Drew Reisner noted that the Cardinal trio placed eighth out of 17 teams attending Sterling High School’s forensics meet on Friday, with only six entries. 

Braydin Piland almost broke into the final round in Poetry and Extemporaneous Speech, placing seventh. 

Elliott Copp and Jessica Lovett placed second in Improvised Duet Acting, bringing HHS’s state-qualifiers to three in that event. Copp also placed sixth in Oration and Lovett placed second in Oration, for a state qualification.
